Morning Market

Saturday mornings in San Juan del Sur means Farmers Market at good old Big Wave Daves.

You can purchase a whole heap of treats from smoked meats to handmade handbags.

Today Brett and I set up our own little stall...

Selling bracelets and rings...

And some fine pieces of art.

Brett also helped out a buddy by painting these two corn hole boards, awesome!

Rivas Run

Rivas, a bustling market town. A good place to go if you need 100 shops all selling the same shit!
The first time I hit the streets of Rivas I was rather overwhelmed and incorrectly dressed.
Now I only go armed with a purpose, a list and with jeans on!

First on the list; Passport.

With all the confusion with the fun new tax laws at the border we decided to hit the Rivas office instead. It took a little polite persuasion and a promise that we WILL be leaving soon but I am now the proud owner of 60 more days here in Nicaragua.

Second; Bed sheets.

Not for everyone I know but bought ourselves some (annoyingly not matching) sheets from the used clothing store, opposite The Dollar Store. 50% off everything made for a sweet bargain of 100 córdobas!!

(Third and fourth items weren't really on a list)

Third; Not really needed, girly treats.

A herbal essences hairspray that smells amazing and was only 80 córdobas.

A pressed face powder by Pond's!? Not quite the right colour and smells like old ladies but it will help with that dewy face of mine.

And a Milky Way that is actually a Mars bar!

Fourth; Second hand clothing.

Bought myself a bikini for 10 córdobas.

And a baseball top, number 53, which I love.

Sunday Funday!

Made a few more bracelets.

I currently have the skin of a sweaty, pubescent boy, something I am not overjoyed about. Not having access to my usual skin care products and living on a budget I am going to try some 'natural' solutions. Having read this "...swimming regularly in salt water will gradually improve the appearance and condition of the disorders' , on the internet but not being the bravest of sea swimmers I've taken to collecting fresh sea water ( right on my doorstep!!) and splashing it on my face twice daily! A little odd but it could work...

Made a tiny, beaded toe ring!

And did my nails under the watchful eye of John Wayne.

4 Things on a Thursday

2 years of hair.

Sadly my over processed hair died a tragic death and something needed to be done. Shaving my head was vetoed by most, so I gave myself a hearty chop and now I'm just waiting... Waiting for luscious, long locks!

Whilst I'm waiting, this is how I try and cover up my mullet.

I'm reminded on a daily basis just how rubbish my Spanish really is.

My mother found me this amazing website with brilliant free podcasts.

Although not so helpful for the Spanish spoken here in Nicaragua, where I live, hopefully by the time we move (I can see myself living in Spain!) I will be fluent and 'lisping' it with the best of them!

Pure genius. British comedy at its bloody best.

It has a magical ability to make you laugh, cry and think.

Derek's kind and selfless characteristics remind me to smile and make me miss home and my job.

Love it.

Watch it!

4 Things Wednesday

Jillian Michaels, she devil and creator of the horrific 30 Day Shred. I attempted this last year and I'm giving it another go now. 5 days in and I am ready for pizza please!

Being aware that only fat people skip breakfast I tolerate a banana in the mornings. Today I discovered if I mash said banana with an egg and pour the mixed batter into my frying pan I can now enjoy a cheeky (not photographed in the most appetising manner) banana pancake!

Painted my nails but not my face today.

And made myself a bracelet!

Getting to know me...

Our adorable beach house.

Designed by my husband, built with bags of earth, located on Playa

Marsella, Nicaragua and magically...

for sale!

Our puppy dog Jones. Love of my life but a pain in my arse!

"This dude rules"

(His words not mine)

However, I did marry the beast so there is truth in the above x

Me.

A British hot mess.

Interested in everything aesthetically pleasing and desperately trying to subdue pleasant memories of Cadbury Dairy Milk, Primark, seasons, wearing shoes (just a couple of the things I miss from home) and trying to cope with the harsh reality that I'm not Beyonce Knowles!
